4.9.2020 A New Beginning for Us

Updated: Apr 10

A NEW BEGINNING FOR US

Last night the time of Passover began, and the first Passover occurred 3333 years ago! So what is Passover? WE can glean rich teaching from the Old Testament. How we need this—especially at this time since the corona virus plague has entered our land. We need your Passover—blood covering ---now more than ever! Let us be refreshed on what Passover was (& still is!)

PASSOVER is the time when the angel of the Lord “Passed Over” the households that had the blood of the lamb on the lintels: “Your lamb is to be without blemish . . . .take the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the crossbeam of the houses where they will eat it . . . . With matzot and bitter herbs. . . . It is Adonai’s Passover” (Ex.12:5,7,8,11). And when they followed these instructions, God promised that “The blood will be a sign . . . When I see the blood, I will pass over you. So there will be no plague among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt”(Ex.12:13,14). The Israelites would be saved--& also have a new beginning, as they would now be set free from slavery. They left with no diseases or infirmities!

Upon believing that the Lord Jesus Christ became our PASSOVER LAMB by sacrificing His life for us, we also have a new beginning. Because of He “Who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood” (Rev.1:5), we can “count ourselves both dead to sin and alive to God in CHRIST (Rom.6:11). We are set free from the slavery of sin! Glory Hallelujah! That’s something to shout about!

Rabbi Cal Goldberg states, “Passover is all about change; about a New Season; a time of planting, sowing; a time to shake off the old and put on the New” . . .. a time to get rid of spiritual clutter.”

If one is to make a new beginning, one must also need to do something. In this situation, the thing that needs doing, is to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. We need to be a people of passion, a people of the Word. . . . . . do a spiritual housecleaning – clean out the dirt in our lives . . . Don’t be entangled in the things of this world. Hold onto the right things and let go of the wrong things—remove the leaven. Removing leaven represents the removal of sin, false doctrine, hypocrisy. We need to purge out leaven from our hearts – pride, arrogance, unbelief. God also wants us to be a people of warfare, guarding our hearts against the enemy.” Help us do this Holy Spirit!

Yes, PASSOVER, is a time to celebrate new beginnings, for each day, even when we err, we have a Savior who is quick to forgive upon our ongoing confession and repentance of our failures and wrong-doings. He is a God of second chances, longsuffering, and slow to anger. Let us rejoice and be grateful that we have a Savior who has provided us the opportunity for a new beginning; even more, once we launch into the deep, we also can look forward to eternity with Him. What could be more glorious than that!

Remind us often that We Have Spiritual Blessings in Christ

Ephesians 1 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. Thank you Lord!

Prayer Time: Abba Father, how we rejoice in this special time of year, as we commemorate Passover once again. We will trust in your BLOOD COVERING each day as we “plead the blood” over ourselves, our family, those dear to us, our congregation, our neighbors, health care workers—whoever YOU have laid on our heart. Remind us to do this every day—not just once a year at Passover time. Also cover our homes, vehicles, professions, ministries, finances, health, & everyone we influence. We add in this time of the corona virus that you would put a shield around us so no deadly thing would come near us—and we ask that we would not transmit any deadly thing to anyone else. Remind us to use wisdom and practice social distancing, masking, and sanitizing. We cast off all fear, anxiety & worry to rise above the circumstances and maintain a life filled with love, joy & peace. We love you much, and trust in your promise to never leave or forsake us. in Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
